Depending on the model, it carries out up to 8 charging steps; the various phases include diagnosis, which checks whether the battery is able to accept and maintain the charge, desulfation which helps to keep the plates clean from sulphate, prolonging the life of the batteries and the latest generation maintenance phase which maintains the battery at 95-100% capacity, supplying current when the battery starts to run down, so as not to “stress” it during long charging periods. (E.g. maintenance of motorcycle batteries during the winter).
