MultiPlus Inverter/Battery Charger from 500VA to 2000VA
The new MultiPlus model was designed to replace the previous MultiPlus Compact range. It features a powerful pure sine wave inverter, a sophisticated battery charger with adaptive charging technology, and a high-speed AC transfer switch, all in a single compact enclosure.
Uninterrupted AC power supply (UPS function)
In the event of a grid failure, or when generator or shore power is disconnected, the Multi’s integrated inverter automatically activates and powers the connected loads. This happens so quickly (less than 20 milliseconds) that computers and other electronic equipment continue to function without interruption.
Remote monitoring and control
When paired with a GX device (e.g., Cerbo GX), you can monitor and control your Multi and system(s) locally (LAN) or remotely over the internet, from anywhere, using the free VRM app and free VRM Portal website. Access is possible via phone, tablet, laptop, or PC with a variety of operating systems. The level of control is limitless: from adjusting your Multi to automatically starting a backup generator and much more…
Characteristics
Multifunctional, with intelligent energy management
The MultiPlus is a powerful pure sine wave inverter, a sophisticated battery charger with adaptive charging technology, and a high-speed AC transfer switch, all in a single compact enclosure. In addition to these primary functions, the MultiPlus offers several advanced features, as listed below.
Parallel Operation and Three-Phase Operation Capability Up to six Multi units can be operated in parallel for increased power output. In addition to parallel connection, three units can be configured for three-phase output.
PowerControl – For limited generator, shoreside, or grid power. Using the MultiControl panel, you can configure a maximum current for the generator or shore. The MultiPlus takes other AC loads into account and uses the excess for charging, thus preventing overloading the generator or shore power.
PowerAssist – Increase shore power or generator capacity
This feature takes the PowerControl principle to a new level. It allows the MultiPlus to supplement the capacity of the alternative source. When full power is frequently required for only a short period of time, the MultiPlus immediately compensates for any generator or shore power shortage with power from the battery. When the load decreases, the excess power is used to recharge the battery.
Four-stage adaptive charging and dual battery bank charging
The main output provides a powerful charge to the battery system using advanced “adaptive charging” software. The software fine-tunes the automatic three-stage process to match the battery’s conditions and adds a fourth stage for extended maintenance charging periods. The adaptive charging process is described in more detail in the Phoenix Battery Charger datasheet and on our website in the Technical Information section. The MultiPlus also charges a second battery using an independent trickle charge output for the starter battery of a main engine or generator.
High starting power
Required to start high peak loads, such as power converters for LED lamps, halogen lamps or power tools.
Search Mode
When the search mode is set to “on,” the inverter’s power consumption during no-load operation is reduced by approximately 70%. In this mode, the Multi shuts down during no-load or minimum load operation and restarts briefly every two seconds. If the output current exceeds a predetermined level, the inverter continues to operate. Otherwise, it shuts down again.
Programmable relay
By default, the programmable relay is set to alarm function, i.e. the relay de-energizes in the event of an alarm or pre-alarm (inverter temperature too high, input ripple too high, battery voltage almost too low).
Remote power on/off/charger on
Three-pin connector.
On-site system configuration, monitoring and control
After installation, the MultiPlus is ready for operation. Some settings can be changed using DIP switches. 500/800/1200 VA models: remote switch / battery charging voltage / inverter frequency / search mode. 1600/2000 VA models: battery charging voltage / search mode. For more information, use VEConfig or the VE.Bus Smart dongle.
Remote configuration and monitoring
Install a Cerbo GX or other GX product to connect to the internet. Operating data can be saved and viewed free of charge on our VRM (Victron Remote Management) website. When connected to the internet, you can remotely access the systems and change settings.
